Notes for Writers, Critics and Editors
Coverage of a gallery works best when it starts with the art itself. If you are planning a review, feature or listing, the most useful first step is to see the work in person. Paintings, sculpture and installation rarely translate fully to a screen, and details such as scale, surface and the way a room has been hung often shape how an exhibition reads. Our visitor information covers getting to the space in Chelsea, and we are happy to arrange a quieter time to walk through a show when the gallery is less busy.
What to include in a press request
To help us respond quickly, please tell us a little about your project when you get in touch:
- The publication, platform or programme you are writing for, and the intended audience
- Whether the piece is a review, interview, profile, round-up or news item
- Your deadline, and any image specifications such as resolution, orientation or file format
- Which exhibition or artist you are interested in
Requests for interviews with artists are passed on directly, but availability depends on each artist's schedule and working practice, so earlier notice is always appreciated.
Using images and credits
Images supplied for press use are intended to accompany coverage of the relevant exhibition or artist. Please reproduce works in full, without cropping into the image or adding overlays, and include the caption information provided: artist name, title, date, medium and courtesy line. If you need a detail shot or an installation view, ask and we will do our best to supply one.
Background and context
For writers looking beyond a single show, our exhibition history and the artists pages offer a sense of the threads that run through the programme over time. Earlier write-ups and notes are gathered in our past coverage, which can be a helpful starting point when tracing how an artist's work has developed between presentations.
